DESCRIPTION: ...Critical Wildfire Risk Monday Afternoon... The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon CST /11 AM MST/ to 7 PM CST /6 PM MST/ Monday. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 061 Hamilton, Fire Weather Zone 062 Kearny, Fire Weather Zone 063 Finney, Fire Weather Zone 077 Gray, Fire Weather Zone 078 Ford and Fire Weather Zone 088 Clark. * TIMING...From noon CST /11 AM MST/ to 7 PM CST /6 PM MST/ Monday. * WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Any ignitions will have the potential to grow into wildfires rapidly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
INSTRUCTION: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
