DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to one quarter of an inch. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around one quarter of an inch possible. * WHERE...Price County. * WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 7 PM CDT this evening. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The majority of the snowfall is expected to fall during the daytime hours. With the high sun angle and temperatures hovering just above freezing, snowfall will have a difficult time accumulating on warm surfaces leading to a slushy mess.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
