AREAS AFFECTED: Fannin; Gilmer; Union; Pickens; Dawson; Lumpkin
DESCRIPTION: At 528 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was near Sequoyah Lake, or 9 miles northeast of Jasper, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding especially in poor drainage areas. Locations impacted include... Dahlonega, Jasper, Dawsonville, Suches, Amicalola Falls State Park, Sequoyah Lake, Woods Hole Shelter, Juno, Fausett Lake, Len Foote Hike Inn, Vogel State Park, Stover Creek Shelter, Turners Corner, Gaddistown, McKee, Margret, Camp Merrill, Dial, Springer Mountain Shelter, and Owltown.
INSTRUCTION: People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to hydroplaning.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
