DESCRIPTION: The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a * Dust Advisory for... Maricopa County in south central Arizona... Pinal County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 800 PM MST. * At 703 PM MST, a dust channel was over Tumbleweed Park, or near Chandler, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Less than two miles visibility with strong wind in excess of 30 mph. SOURCE...Doppler radar. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. * This includes the following highways... AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 155 and 177. US Highway 60 between mile markers 173 and 198. AZ Route 87 between mile markers 150 and 172. Locations impacted include... Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Apache Junction, Sun Lakes, Queen Creek, San Tan Village Mall, Seville, Freestone Park, Bapchule, Fiesta Mall, Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, San Tan Mountain Park, and Chandler Heights.

INSTRUCTION: Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to their surface.

Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation similar to situations which produce snowfall.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.

When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific to any geographic area.

Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole, skypunch, and cloud hole.
