High Surf Advisory issued August 3 at 4:16AM EDT until August 4 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC
AREAS AFFECTED: Northern Outer Banks
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet in the surf zone. For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents and large breaking waves expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Northern Outer Banks beaches. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until midnight EDT tonight. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through this evening. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Dangerous shore break can throw a swimmer or surfer head first into the bottom causing neck and back injuries. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will occur around 9:00 AM this morning.
INSTRUCTION: Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, such as life-threatening rip currents, shore break and strong longshore currents.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
