AREAS AFFECTED: Emmet; Cheboygan; Presque Isle; Montmorency; Alpena
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations between one tenth to one quarter of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Alpena, Cheboygan, Emmet, Montmorency, and Presque Isle Counties. * WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 6 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An initial brief mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain is expected to change to all freezing rain later this morning. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing from south to north through the afternoon.
INSTRUCTION: Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
