DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation and patchy blowing snow expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 5 and 12 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Portions of west central Minnesota and northeast South Dakota. * WHEN...From 7 AM Friday to 7 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The combination of falling snow and winds will lead to periods of blowing snow that may briefly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
