DESCRIPTION: FFWGJT The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern Delta County in west central Colorado... South Central Mesa County in west central Colorado... North Central Montrose County in west central Colorado Including the Sowbelly burn scar... * Until 915 PM MDT. * At 714 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.2 and 0.7 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Burn areas of the Sowbelly could also be impacted. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Escalante Fork and the Sowbelly burn scar. This includes the following streams and drainages... Cottonwood Creek, Escalante Creek, Branch Creek, Gunnison River, Rose Creek, Middle Fork Escalante Creek, Dry Fork Escalante Creek, East Fork Escalante Creek, Kelso Creek, South Fork Mesa Creek and North Fork Escalante Creek.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
